Spring Break

I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break! I am spending my break with Mrs. Handy, Mr. Blanc, and Mr. Moll scoring fourth grade state writing assessments from around the state. I'm also working on plans for the two months left of school after break. Hard to believe how quickly this year has gone.

Before we left for break students should have completed almost everything for their country projects, including seven maps, their flag, and six writing pieces. Any pieces not done will need to be finished at home over break or, if they didn't make it home, the week we return as homework. As a class we will be binding our books and it's very important that everyone is ready with completed work the same day.

We also started memorizing the states and their capitals. Several students have completely memorized the first 25 states and capitals. Using flashcards and maps we hope to have the entire class with states and capitals memorized by the end of April. This spring we will continue our study of world geography, particularly continents, oceans, and major geographical features.

As a reminder, if you would like to volunteer during reading or math (or another time of the day), please let me know. Also, if you have old magazines you would like to donate to the class, we'd be happy to take them.

Please note that school will resume Tuesday, March 29th due to a budget reduction day on Monday, March 28th.
